Mary

Kreuzer

Cheektowaga resident, Mary Kreuzer, 65, may be retired, but she is busier than ever between her traveling to visit friends, family and attending conferences to volunteering for a number of organizations. After Mary’s husband, Joe, lost his five-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease in 2003, Mary’s daughter encouraged her to join the public policy committee at the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mary was no stranger to the organization, and she knew she wanted to give back. Mary said, “The Alzheimer’s Association gave me so much support - through their counseling and support groups - when I needed it most, that I wanted to be able to give back to the organization through volunteering.”
Mary has sat on the Alzheimer’s Association’s public policy committee and has traveled as a passionate advocate to Albany and Washington D.C. several times over her five years of volunteering. She has also run health fair booths, worked on special office projects, and even organized a group of women from the Curves where she is a member at to participate in Memory Walk every September.

Mary also volunteers for other local organizations. She has worked health fairs for the Erie County Social Services department, and she has almost reached 800 volunteer hours at the V.A. Hospital. Mary also dedicates much of her time to volunteering with the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of New York State.
